During the second day of the conference “Solutions and Innovations in Media”, working groups will tackle panel topics with an aim to ensure concreate recommendations. Three working groups will be discussing topics such as combating harmful content, protecting journalists and restoring trust, and how to reach for audiences in an oversaturated information environment.
Working group on combating harmful content

In this working group, participants will discuss possible approaches to regulation and moderation of content, with a particular focus on combating harmful content in the WB information environment. They will discuss some of the models, initiatives and regulations for countering harmful content online and give recommendations for future actions. The aim of the working group is to prepare concrete recommendations for a better information environment taking into account protection of the freedom of expression.

Drawing on the conclusions from the panel, the aim of this working group is to prepare concrete recommendations for a better protection of journalists and media professionals and for restoring trust in professional media. During the working group, participants will discuss some of the possible solutions for a better protection of journalists, including digital security policies and protection mechanisms.
Working group on reaching for audiences in an oversaturated information environment

Participants of the working group will discuss ways in which media outlets and content producers can better reach audiences. Challenges and opportunities will be discussed in reference to the oversaturated media market, the role of tech companies and social networks and the lack of financial sustainability in the media industry. The aim of the working group is to prepare concrete recommendations for a better sustainability of the media in the WB region.
