Master classes: Security, Constructive and Ecological journalism

During the conference, there will be three master classes organized for all the participants. All classes are organized at different times so that participants can attend all. Below you can find more information about master classes individually.

Master class: Security

Trainer: Robert Todoroski

May 19, 2022, 14:30 – 16:00

In this workshop, participants will have the opportunity to learn more about information security in journalism, how to detect digital threats, how to identify risks and determine their likelihood and consequence, as well as how to create their own security plan to protect their assets.

Master class: Constructive journalism

Trainer: Petra Kovačević

May 20, 2022, 14:30 – 16:00

In this workshop, participants will learn the key elements of constructive journalism. Through individual and group assignments, they will adopt the principles of this journalistic practice, critically discuss its applicability and the issues in journalism that constructive journalism is trying to address. The workshop will also cover the basics of another, more hands-on approach which is a ‘niche’ of constructive journalism – solutions reporting.

Master class: Ecological journalism

May 20, 2022, 14:30 – 16:00

Trainer: Jelena Kalinić

In this workshop, participants will learn what is environmental journalism and whether it overlaps with science journalism. They will find out what are the topics that environmental journalism covers, but also the dangers of environmental journalism. They will hear about Jelena’s experience in working on an environmental journalism story. Participants will get information on how to approach the issue, how to find and define topics and why they should not avoid “boring topics” and topics related to law.
